The design for the new single-family residence on the outskirts of Ravenna begins with the renovation and expansion of the existing two-story building, complemented by the transformation of the expansive perimeter garden. The garden’s lush vegetation, alongside three majestic, centuries-old oak trees that stand before the house, serve both as constraints and inspirations, shaping the architectural vision. Drawing from the surrounding natural landscape, the new structure's form and materials are carefully chosen to preserve the distinctiveness of the environment, resulting in a building with a minimal visual and environmental footprint.

The ground floor capitalizes on the north-south orientation of the new volume, with a spa and pool area located to the south, utility spaces to the north, and a living area positioned on the west side, offering sweeping views of the park and garden. The upper floor houses a secondary bedroom suite that overlooks the verdant green roof.

The flat roof of the ground floor is punctuated with a series of openings, creating a dynamic interplay between solid and void, and providing opportunities for semi-open spaces. These spaces, akin to intimate green courtyards, serve as internal landscapes, filtering light and creating a natural buffer between different areas of the home. Large, continuous windows wrap the perimeter, forming a transparent facade that seamlessly invites the rich exterior landscape into the heart of the home.

Natural stone, dark wood, and brushed plaster are artfully blended with the vibrant greens of the surrounding vegetation. Metal accents and dark-toned details enrich the interior, imbuing it with warmth and sophistication. The colors and textures of the garden interact harmoniously with the new materials, while the reflection of tree canopies, trunks, and bark in the pool’s water blurs the line between nature and architecture, creating a seamless dialogue between the built and natural worlds.
